It is a non issue. Like so many other things, it got blown way out of proportion by the MSM with no merit.
The issue was resolved with no reason for further concerns.

Overall, the M18 has really come through for most users, especially after SIG worked out those early issues. If you're picking up a new one, you're likely getting a pretty polished version. Just remember to give it a good test run with your favorite ammo and keep an eye on how it performs.
