What are the best bore cleaners you've found for preventing rust? I've tried a few, but I'm looking for something that really works over the long haul. Any recommendations based on your experiences?

I usually use a thin coat of gun oil for rust prevention. Usually the cleaners have mineral spirits, which can evaporate.

My first gig into retirement I started a knife making business. No stainless crap, real tough tool steels.
Problem is they rust if you spit within 60 ft of them without treatment of some sort. After experimenting
with many different oils/greases/CLPs I settled (this is for rust prevention not lube" on Frog Lube. I've never
found anything close as far as corrosion prevention. It's a good lube if properly applied but I just use it fro rust protection.

Well, your asking for a good lube and a rust preventive. As the chrishayes pointed out Frog lube is for coating steel for rust preventive, but it dries out and gums up the action. Hoppe's is a good bore cleaner, followed up with oily patch down the bore.
