Night bass fishing in summer is something I recommend to everyone exactly once

Summer night fishing can be incredible. The bass are active, the water is calm and there's just something about being out there after dark that keeps me coming back every year.

That said, the mosquitoes also know it's prime time and you'll spend the evening catching fish and wondering if your bug spray is doing anything at all. 😅

By the time you get home, you'll have a few good stories, some decent fish photos and enough mosquito bites to stay uncomfortable for the next couple of days. I still do it every summer and probably always will. If you're the type of person who panics at the sight of a mosquito, this might not be for you. Everyone else should try it at least once. Just bring more bug spray than you think you'll need.

That's a pretty accurate description. Night bass fishing can be fantastic but the mosquitoes often seem just as excited about the conditions as the fish are.

I've never tried night bass fishing myself but the way people describe those explosive strikes in the dark makes it sound like a completely different experience from daytime fishing.

Night bass fishing in summer is peak chaos in the best way. Topwater strikes you can't see coming, mosquitoes treating you like a buffet and somehow still planning the next trip before you even get home.

Night fishing has its own appeal, almost peaceful enough to forget the chaos on shore. The bugs are just part of the deal but the fishing and atmosphere usually make up for it.

I did it one time as a youngster around orlando florida area, we had a .38 for alligators, just in case. Being from the north I wasn't sure what to expect!

Years later, after being stationed in southern florida, I carried a .38 when I fished the canals down there!

Fished many a night tournament in the dark. Yellow flood light usually did the trick. Most daytime lures work after dark.
