Range Attire: What's Too Much?

I've been thinking a lot about what to wear when heading to the range. I'm not talking about the full tactical gear, just the regular clothes people throw on.

Been hitting the range a bit lately and started noticing what everyone else is wearing. Honestly, camo seems to really stand out in a crowd when you're just there for some basic drills or to run a few mags through your rifle. Not trying to knock anyone's style or anything, but it feels maybe a bit much for just a casual outing. Like, unless you're deep in the woods, why the camo?

I've been sticking with more neutral options: usually just jeans, a plain t-shirt, and boots. I think comfort is key, and safety too—like, definitely no sandals! I kind of prefer to blend in rather than go all "tacticool."

Am I the only one who feels like this? Or do others feel the same way? Just curious if I'm overthinking it or if there's some unwritten range dress code I'm missing.

Depending on the game or shooting activity people will get all dressed up or just jeans and T-shirts. I've seen people in a sort of sports wear with bold colors and also sporting vests. Camo is a sort of "brand" of shooter that is projecting their hunting or outdoor lifestyle, which is different than shooters who are trying to compete. There's plenty of shooting vests in shotgun sports that support one game or another, but I have seen guys that wear gear be incredible and also not good, so I think it's about fitting in with the shooters you want to shoot with, or function, like pockets in convenient places and such. Heck in Cowboy Action Shooting a "wild west" costume is sort of requisite. All that to say it really depends.

In fairness, we're all dressing up every day. Even the gray man has a costume. Thoreau said something like, "should a man stand shiftless, next to a scarecrow with a full suit of clothes, passersby would sooner salute the scarecrow than the man."

Me, I am a casual type, I tend to like hiding in plain sight even while at the range. Blue jeans or cargo pants. T-shirt with long sleeve work shirt over the top (hides my concealed carry gun on the way to and from the range.) Boots or runners, and a ball type cap or one my cowboy hats.

Range wear is shorts/t-shirt & ball cap. I mostly shoot in doors.

eh. you should probably be wearing the clothes you're gonna be wearing while youre doing whatever it is that you're actually doing shooting. You are training right? So if you're a hunter you should probably be wearing the cammies that you'd be wearing in the sticks. How does this not make sense? Hurr durr "dress up".

Fellow in my neighborhood goes for his morning walk in a plate carrier. Makes me wonder if there's some threat in my neighborhood that I am unaware of.
