Zeroing in for the hunting season

After I had that run-in with a deer this year, I really started to wonder if my gun was a bit off. I was actually hitting about 1.25" low at 40 yds. It really drives home the point that you need to double-check your zero if you want to hit what you're aiming for. I usually shoot within 60yds, so that 40yd zero is perfect for my 7.62x39. Also, my 8M3 practice ammo shoots way higher than the Hornady hunting rounds I typically use. So, if you're out hunting with a .308 or anything else, make sure you’re zeroing in with the exact ammo you plan to use. It makes a huge difference.

I always make it a point to zero my rifle with the exact hunting ammo I plan to use. I’ll gladly fire a few extra rounds if that’s what it takes for peace of mind. It’s one of those details that might not seem important until it costs you a shot.

Anyone that doesn't sight in their gun before a hunt , shouldn't be hunting.
Hunting is not a video game.
