For rattlesnakes

I've come across a few rattlesnakes recently, and it’s got me thinking I need to carry something for close encounters. Has anyone had good experiences with .38 snake shot or .410 revolvers?

If they are out in the wild , just walk around them.
It's always worked for me.
At home a flat shovel works best.

.22 snake shot is very effective. Never tried the others.

My dog cornered one....I had a .38 with snake shot...as I aimed, I thought why would I kill that snake...he did his part and rattled...took dog in the house, an hour later the snake was gone on his own and I gave away my snake shot. I hate snakes, and scream like a little girl when I encounter one, but they keep the pack rats in check.
I always wondered if the snake shot could bounce back, hit me in the calf after passing through the venom sack....wouldn't that be ironic?
