I'd love to hear about everyone's first handgun experiences! Do you still have yours? How do you feel about it now? Share any fun stories or pictures if you've got them!

Yep! It's a Colt Frontier Scout two-tone SA .22LR. My Father gave it to me after I got married, which was about a year and a half after I joined the USAF. I still have it, though I haven't shot it in many years. He had a super light trigger on it; I think it breaks around 1.5 lbs, maybe a little less. I have a trigger pull gauge, I just haven't gotten around to testing that one. I inherited an all black Frontier Scout from my FIL; Haven't shot it yet, but I intend to. I'm thinking of sending them both in for restoration and mechanical "refreshment" so I can pass them down to my grandsons someday.

My first handgun was a Colt Python. A guy I worked with was telling me that his Father in Law had died and left him a handgun. He went on to tell me it was to big and scared him and wondered if I would be interested. He didn't know what it was, Well I met him and he pulls out a like new in the box Colt Python with a 6in. barrel. I aks him how much do you want? He says make an offer, So I say how about a hundred bucks? His reply was " That Much!!" I damn near broke my wrist getting the money out of my pocket! LOL
The trouble was I was fairly recently married and we just had a baby, now I had to go home and tell my Wife that I spent the grocery money on a gun! I still have my Wife and the gun, along with quite a few other Colts that I started collecting. This was back in 76.

My first was a Ruger Single Six that didn't come with the WMR cylinder. Got it from a pawn shop in Utah many years ago. Lost it in a poker game years later. Bought another one when I lived in NM and still have that one. Another pawn shop acquisition. This one came with the WMR cylinder only. 30 yrs ago.

My first was a S&W M&P model 10 Revolver in 1968. Sold it in 1983 😥. My second from 1968 was a S&W Detective special. Carried for years. Still have it but rarely shoot it. Too many other fun toys.

I had a guy who owed me money offered me High Standard G .380 Pistol for the debt. I wasn't a fan of gun and a city cop heard I was the one who had the gun. When he came by in his civies asking me about it. I was thinking the gun was stolen. Nope it wasnt that. He wanted to buy it. I asked what did he have to trade? I ended up with a NIB Ruger Blackhawk in .357. I ran away thinking I got the better deal. A couple years later I found out how rare that model High Standard G .380 Pistol was and the value was more than that Blackhawk. I still think I made a great deal.

My wife got me a Ruger 357 for Christmas back in the 70's and my first semi-auto was a Star Firestar .40 S&W bought from Phoenix shooters supply.
